Happy Birthday Sam!!

April 6, 1999 Samuel Caldwell Evans was born. Sam is a great kid and an awesome big brother to four siblings now. We never would have imagined that on Sam's 12th birthday we would be in Guangzhou, China adopting a little girl. We have had a good day. We Skyped with my parents and Hugh and Henry this morning. They had a Happy Birthday sign, party hats, and a chocolate cake!! It was so sweet:) We are getting a cake to celebrate with Sam tonight. Shhh...don't tell! Some of the kids Sam and Ellie have gotten to be friends with gave him gifts this morning, and had a little party in their room. Today we also had our consulate appointment. All went well...although, Todd and I were the LAST family to be called to finalize everything. I was beginning to get a little worried! When we were done it was such a good feeling. Tonight we are going on the Pearl River Dinner Cruise. I will post about that and more pics of Sam's big day later:) One more thing...the napkin on Sam's head was the closest we could get to a party hat!!

A birthday he will NEVER forget!!! God is SO good on SO many levels! Happy Birthday sweet Sam:)

Happy Birthday Sam!!! Wow, 12 years sure have flown by. I remember that consulate appt so well! So happy for you guys. One more thing to check off the list. Not much longer now and you can bring that precious Betsy home.

January 15, 2010-mailed in application to Lifeline January 21, 2010- received China Manual today January 26, 2010- went to police department to have fingerprints done January 28, 2010- mailed fingerprints/criminal history forms to Lifeline February 20, 2010- fingerprints came back, DHR contracting to SBCN, filled out additional forms February 24, 2010- mailed new forms and fingerprints to SBCN April 3, 2010- recieved SBCN forms back with incomplete information April 5, 2010- back to Police Department- fingerprint technician had to sign both forms-mailed forms back to SBCN May 2010- fingerprints classified as unidentifiable June 2010- fingerprints cleared July 8 2010- mailed I800A July 12, 2010- passport pictures made/went to courthouse and filled out paperwork for passports August 3, 2010- Homestudy complete/accepted referral for our daughter! August 5-sent LOI August 11-PA (pre-approval) August 19, 2010- Update and new pictures!! Passports came in (everyone's except mine)- had to send in marriage certificate to verify last name August 27, 2010- receipt from USCIS September 2, 2010- my passport came!! September 7, 2010- made biometric fingerprint appt. for September 16 September 15, 2010- sent care package to Betsy September 16, 2010- biometric fingerprints done today...few days later prints approved! September 24, 2010- USCIS approval in mail- will scan and send to agency October 18, 2010-DTC (dossier to China) November 9, 2010-LID(log in date) January 4, 2011-LOA (letter of acceptance) February 8, 2011- I800 approved February 14, 2011- 797 came in mail, scanned and sent to Karla February 17, 2011-cable date February 22, 2011- letter from NVC February 23, 2011- Scanned NVC letter and sent to Karla March 16, 2011-TA!!!!! March 23, 2011- leave for China March 28, 2011- Gotcha Day April 6, 2011-CA April 9, 2011- Home Sweet Home!!
